Rethreading our landscape – “The I am project”, 2019-2021 “I am project” is meant to serve as a conduit between wild horses and the human spirit. When engaging with each image, write a positive affirmation and leave it with the photograph to stand as a tribute to their existence and to the magic that exists in this world. Think “I am powerful”, reflect on the emotions that stirs within you. "Suspended by a thin thread of time, wild horses in the southwest states of the U.S. face a threat to their survival by competing with livestock. These large herbivores play a key role in the maintenance of ecosystems; however, it is their family structure, bonds, and values such as love, courage, persistence, and freedom that allow us to see them as a reflection of our own humanness. My photographs are intended to seize moments spurring emotion and connection in the souls of human beings. I spend a great deal of time in the field observing and learning their unique set of behaviors allowing me to document and capture unique compositions. It answers the “why” photographing these majestic beings is important. " - XE
