Mood & Mystery
WORKS BY ROBERTO MILIANO
July 2020
Mood & Mystery is a collection of landscape oil paintings by Tucson based oil painter Roberto Miliano. This exhibition was made in collaboration with Xico Inc to bring art and culture to our community despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Roberto spent his summers with his family in their cabin in what is known as the Hudson River country. It was there, as a young lad, he loved to draw and paint landscapes of the Kittatinny Mountains. Trekking through the back trails and fishing at Sun Fish Pond, are the memories that most influence his style. Similar to the tonalist George Inness, over the years, Robero's work has taken on a more abstract feel. Roberto uses a limited palette and value range similar to the early American Tonaliststs, to create his landscapes. The misty days Roberto experienced on the back trials of the Delaware water gap, combined with Autumn foliage's bright bursts of oranges and yellows, and now the contrasts of the Arizona's twilight skies gives a work of art that is much more concerned with the mood of the landscape. Roberto is a member of the Southern Arizona Art Guild of Tucson, and an artist member of the Southern Arizona Water Color Guild of Tucson. He is also a member of the Artist Round Table of Sonoma County, California. Where he as received many awards for his paintings.
